Trend alert: art in kitchens and bathrooms

This is a trend alert and we love it. Because it adds instant personality and style.

So for those of you on Pinterest or total magazine junkies…you will have noticed a trend that we are seeing more and more of in interior spaces: beautiful art pieces in bathrooms and kitchens.

Hallelujah we say! Why? Because this is an instant and very changeable opportunity to add personality and style.

Tiles, splashbacks, cabinets are all pretty fixed elements. Lighting, paint colours and art, are not. They are easily changed, though you might just find yourself loving a piece so much that you don’t want to change it for a long time!

This all black kitchen could take on any design personality. The use of heavy oil paintings and detailed framing, gives it a classic, old worldly, traditional feel, enhanced by the photo editing to go with it.

Switch out these art works for something more graphic with a modern frame, and clean bright lighting, and this image would have a totally different feel.

In this kitchen, subtle pastel colours, and a slight oriental feel, teamed with earthenware to suit, make this space feel calming and relaxing, with a confident sophisticated edge. Just beautiful.

This really clean, crisp, modern kitchen remains simple and elegant with the addition of a black and white photograph. This is where you can personalise the space by making it a photo of family members or a loved one. By having a standard store bought frame, you can easily swap out the photo as you see fit.

No money has been poured into fancy tiles in this bathroom and it doesn’t make it any less amazing.

The bath is simple, the light fixture is sculptural, and the art adds mystery. A pop of greenery, and a large light filled window, all adds up to the perfect combination. Consider a rug rather than a bath mat, for a more permanent design statement, that grounds the space even more.
